WFTU Solidarity Statement with Railway Workers in Stockholm Suburbs in Sweden

The World Federation of Trade Unions representing 105 million workers across the 5 continents, expresses its solidarity and support to the striking workers in Stockholm suburban railways in Sweden.

The workers started a three-day strike early on Monday 17th of April, after many attempts were made by the workers for the voice to be heard, their demands were to stop the dismissals and the replacements of workers.

The MTR authority have been dismissing and replacing safety workers and train conductors with untrained employees for cheaper labor, in order to save money putting the lives of workers and travelers in danger. The workers demand to put a stop to this policy as its results would be disastrous. They demand the immediate and unconditional reinstatement of the fired worker and the implementation of proper safety measures.

The WFTU expresses its solidarity with the striking workers and its support to their just demands.
