WFTU: The 8th of March International Women’s Day is a day of struggle! Against War Inequalities  Exploitation Exclusion

The 8th of March International Women’s Day is a day of struggle!
Against War Inequalities  Exploitation Exclusion

168 years after the first uprising of women textile workers in New York, claiming the increase of their miserable salaries, the reduction of working hours, equality in payment and social rights, the situation for the working, unemployed and young women is extremely harsh and getting worse all over the world: unemployment, flexible work, precariousness, psychological pressure and violence in workplaces and lack of health services and healthcare.

The international phase that humanity as a whole is currently going through is characterised by an unprecedented economic and social crisis, which is reflected on the political and military terrain through events that are unfolding with increasing speed. The only margins for growth for the capital come from an increasingly intensive exploitation of the workforce and the planet’s shrinking natural resources, and from the war, so today the condition of people, workers, especially for women, is continuously worsening. The money for arms and war is always there, the money to meet the needs of the working classes is never found, we pay for these decisions in terms of welfare cuts, attacks on wages, high inflation, very sharp increases in the cost of living, a general increasing poverty.

Our struggles as international class oriented trade unions today, like the women workers in 1857, are the only way to change this situation, fight against imperialist designs to bring the world to war, fight against this system of exploitation that wants us slaves.

WFTU has been firmly supports the demands of the working women since its foundation and today calls on its  member organizations to act so that women’s rights are an integral part of their struggles.

In this important day of struggles we reaffirm the solidarity with the heroic Palestinian people and the necessity of the end of the barbaric Israeli occupation.

WFTU women’s committee calls on the women of the world to be active in all fields, in all initiatives and struggles. Therefore, let us turn the anniversary of March 8 this year into an occasion to launch solidarity activities with women to exercise our rights that preserve dignity.

WFTU supports the struggle of women, workers, unemployed, farmers, youth, migrants, against the policies of the capital, monopolies and multinationals.

For more women to join the ranks of the progressive trade union movement and its leadership bodies.

Reclaims our rights!
Decent work and dignity at work
Equal pay for equal work
Maternity benefit to all
Social benefit to all
Health and safety at work places

The WFTU, on this occasion too, calls on working women to join the ranks of the class-oriented trade union movement, in an organized and collective way, together and side by side with male workers, and fight for a world free from wars, free from all forms of exploitation, for a world where all the working class can prosper and enjoy the fruits of their work.

Long live the struggles!!
