The 4th World Working Youth Congress, held in Marseille, France on 22-23 November 2024, Condemns the crimes and the barbarity of the state of Israel, and expresses its support for the heroic Palestinian People in their struggle for freedom and dignity.
The massacre and genocide of the Palestinians in Gaza are still going on unabated with the support and encouragement of the USA, the EU and their allies.
It has been more than a year since the beginning of the genocide against our brothers and sister in Palestine, more than 43 thousand people have lost their lives with the number being on the rise day by day.
All efforts for a ceasefire are falling on deaf ears, with the arrogance of the Israeli government reaching new levels.
The latest escalations in the region by the murderous state of Israel, with more military campaigns in the region, the invasion and continuous bombardment of Lebanon, the destruction of infrastructure in Syria and Yemen, confirm the fears of a generalized regional war. At the same time the imperialist hypocrites continue their attempt to present it as the “right of Israel to defend itself”.
The root cause of this situation is the occupation and illegal settlement of the occupied Palestinian territories by Israel and the continuous, daily crimes and the blockades of Gaza that have been committed against the Palestinian people for decades.
From the very first moment, the WFTU has courageously highlighted the root cause of instability, violence and unrest in Palestine and the Middle East in general. This root cause is none other than the Israeli occupation and settlement, the usurpation of the rights of the Palestinian people, which has been going on and intensifying for decades.
The consistent and principled support and solidarity to the heroic Palestinian people had always been a priority for the international class- oriented trade union movement. When at the same time the ITUC is flirting with the murderous state of Israel, through the policy of equal distancing by equating the victim with perpetrator, and justifying the disgraceful imperialis hypocrisy. It is clear that the only way to secure and consolidate peace and security in the region, is to immediately end the Israeli occupation and settlement in the occupied Arab territories, as provided for in the UN resolutions, and to establish an independent Palestinian state on the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The 4th World Working Youth Congress welcomes the warrants of the International Criminal Court, for the arrest of Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, and calls all countries around the world to respect and implement the decision of the ICC.
As we get close to the 29th of November, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, we call on the youth around the world to intensify their solidarity action and take on initiatives showing our brothers and sisters in Palestine that they are not alone in their struggle.
The internationalist class-oriented working youth will continue to struggle alongside Palestine. It will continue to fight for the strengthening and the enrichment of the role of the international trade union movement in the struggle of the Palestinian people. It is deeply rooted in the way the class-oriented trade union movement functions and acts that internationalist solidarity is the most powerful weapon of the peoples. Until the final victory, in Palestine and throughout the world.
