Roofers Local 36 Sends Support and Solidarity to Human Rights Activists

The United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers, Local 36, stands in solidarity with and condemns the arrests of Mikel Zuloaga and Begoña Huarte. Their actions in defense of refugee workers are made necessary by the growing crisis of international finance capital. Economic and political instability created by monopoly capital is driving ever increasing numbers of working people into immigrant and refugee conditions as a matter of survival.

The states and NGOs have proven unwilling to independently address these crises, and only the steadfast resolve of courageous activists such as Mikel and Begoña has forced any action in the interests of providing protections to refugee workers. We call on all charges to be immediately dismissed for the humanitarian acts.

Unity and struggle,

Cliff Smith
Business Manager, Local 36
