On October 3, 1945, in the ashes of the 2nd World War, in the Palais de Chaillot in Paris, trade unions from across the globe united to establish the World Federation of Trade Unions. This landmark moment remains engraved in the memory of the global labor movement, marking the beginning of WFTU’s enduring fight for workers’ rights, dignity, and international solidarity. For a world without imperialist wars and interventions, without discrimination and man-by-man exploitation.
Since its founding, WFTU has grown into a powerful voice for workers, maintaining an uncompromising commitment to class struggle and unity. WFTU affiliates mobilized worldwide, protecting workers’ rights and pushing back against attempts to limit union freedoms.
For 80 years, WFTU has remained a beacon of internationalism, organizing protests, strikes, and seminars worldwide. It has empowered workers to collectively demand health, safety, and justice, proving that no crisis can deter the commitment to a world without exploitation.
As we commemorate this milestone, we honor WFTU’s ongoing efforts to unite workers of all nations, genders, and ages under a shared vision of emancipation from capitalist exploitation. WFTU’s class-oriented approach remains the path towards a future where workers are free from poverty, discrimination, and inequality. We honor the struggles of the international class-oriented trade union movement for peace and against imperialist wars over the year, and we are committed continuing and strengthening these struggles.
This anniversary is a call to action. We commit to advancing WFTU’s principles by engaging young workers, opposing imperialist interventions, and promoting universal rights to health, education, and dignified work. We strive for a future rooted in international solidarity and collective struggle.
The year of 2025 will be a year full of various activities of every form carried out by the bodies, structures and affiliates of the WFTU, devoted to the anniversary of 80 years of our glorious history. We, the Working Youth Committee of WFTU, will enrich and strengthen these activities.
The international class-oriented working youth, will continue dedicated, organized and militant to strengthen the World Federation of Trade Unions, for dignified work and life!
