TUI TPFC Expresses it’s sincere condolences to the families of the innocent people victimized in the train crash on 1st March in Greece
As TUI Transport, Ports, Fishery and Communication, the Sectoral Organization of the World Federation of Trade Unions, we express our sorrow and sincere condolences to the families of those who were victimized in a train crash in Tempe, Larissa, Greece.
This tragedy, which could have been prevented by taking a few precautions, claimed the lives of at least 36 innocent people the majority of whom were young students. The reason lying behind this great tragedy is the policies of privatization that started to be implemented by the government in the year 2017.
In spite of all the clear and urgent warnings of the class–oriented unions in Greece, the ruling party did nothing to prevent the disaster coming day by day. For this reason the main responsibility belongs to the government of Greece for the victims of the train crash disaster. Moreover, the European Union is also responsible for this crime, as it has promoted the privatization policies in all the countries affiliated to the EU.
As TUI Transport, Ports, Fishery and Communication, we declare our solidarity with the people of Greece, express our deep sorrow for the victims and protest the Government of Greece for not having taken necessary measures. We demand immediate steps from the Government of Greece to start a transparent judicial procedure in order to enlighten all the aspect of this tragedy.
