WFTU Stands in Solidarity with Metal Workers in Turkey and Birleşik Metal-İş Union

The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing 105 million members in 133 countries, stands in unwavering solidarity with metal workers and Birleşik Metal-İş Union, whose strikes have been banned by the AKP government in Turkey. Despite the prohibition, the union continues its strikes with determination.

The strikes initiated or planned at workplaces such as GE Grid Solutions, Hitachi Energy, Schneider Electric, and Green Transfo – all enterprises of international finance capital employing approximately 2,000 workers – have been banned in violation of both national and international laws and agreements.

The banning of strikes, which are the most vital and powerful means of resistance for the working class against the capitalist class, is utterly unacceptable. In defiance of these bans, members of Birleşik Metal-İş Union have taken a militant stance and are courageously continuing their strikes.

The WFTU salutes the steadfast and militant struggle of Birleşik Metal-İş members who are resolutely defending their right to strike and pledges to maintain its solidarity with them at all times.

The WFTU firmly believes that through organized and militant struggle, the metal workers will prevail.

Long live the International Solidarity of the Working Class!
