MEF proposes raising President’s salary from 16 thousand to 36,000 soles

The National Central Union of Retired and Pensioners of Peru – CENAJUPE considers an immoral proposal to be repudiable in a situation of unbearable crisis, economic, political and social that the country is experiencing given corruption from the heights of the public authorities and in the midst of the misdeeds of organized crime and citizen insecurity, such as the case of the mining workers of Pataz and other construction workers, transport, traders and entrepreneurs.

If this situation occurred, it would mean, taking as an example the DL 19990 pensioners, that this salary and at the same time life pension, would be the amount of 60 regular retirees with minimum pension (S/. 600.00) more than 40 retirees with maximum pension (S/. 893.00) Taking into account that there are lower-income pensioners such as proportional pensions, fishermen and other social security schemes, whose tip pensions are barely used to pay for services such as water, electricity, gas, transport and communications without access to food and a decent life.

CENAJUPE will present its petition for complaints and already demands the negotiating space and find a solution to the demands of those who gave their working lives in the service of the homeland.

PERU: CGTP National Council Condemns the Attack on the Home of CGTP President

The General Confederation of Workers of Peru (CGTP) expresses its most vigorous condemnation of the explosive attack carried out on the morning of March 18 at the residence of our president, Luis Villanueva Carbajal, who also serves as the general secretary of the Federation of Workers in Civil Construction of Peru Peru ( FTCCP ). This criminal act is part of the advancement of organized crime, which has claimed the lives of 26 union leaders in recent years, seriously affecting the safety and exercise of labor rights in the country.

In the face of this serious situation, the CGTP demands the Ministry of the Interior, Public Ministry, Judiciary and the National Police of Peru to adopt urgent and effective measures to identify and punish those responsible, as well as the strengthening of security strategies that guarantee the life and integrity of union leaders and workers in general. Impunity only encourages new acts of violence that attack democracy and the right to union organization.

The CGTP reaffirms its commitment to defending labor rights and fighting against all forms of violence and intimidation towards the working class. We demand a comprehensive security policy that faces firm and decisively the action of organized crime. Safety and justice for the workers of Peru!
