WFTU Statement on the 75th Anniversary of Nakba

The World Federation of Trade Unions commemorates along with our brothers and sister in Palestine the killing of 15.000 Palestinians on May 15, 1948 and the displacement of 750.000 others during that period, that day became known as Nakba day meaning catastrophe.

The 75th anniversary of Nakba coincide with a new crime of the murderous democracy of Israel, an operation that lasted for 5 days and led to the death of 33 Palestinians in the besieged Gaza strip.

The international class-oriented trade union movement do not forget, do not forgive.  We fight steadily for the recognition of the independent Palestinian state in the borders of 1967, with Eastern Jerusalem as its capital. Moreover, for the right of the Palestinian refugees to return to Palestine and for the release of all Palestinian political prisoners.

The World Federation of Trade Unions, on behalf of its the 105 million members in 133 countries in the 5 continents, extends its international working-class solidarity with Palestinian workers and its people. We once again condemn the Israeli barbarism and hypocrisy of the US, NATO and European Union who equalize the perpetrators with the victims.

We call upon the world militant trade union movement to express their solidarity with Palestine in every possible way and the international organizations to immediately intervene against the Israeli barbarism.

Long Live Free Palestine!
